The Power of Touch: Hands-On Teaching for Pilates Professionals

Touch is one of the most powerful teaching tools available to Pilates instructors, yet many teachers receive little formal training in how, when and why to use it effectively.

This practical, interactive workshop explores the art and science of tactile cueing to enhance movement quality, body awareness and motor learning. Participants will discover how skilled touch can improve alignment, facilitate muscle activation, provide stability, encourage efficient movement patterns and build client confidence.

The session will also explore the ethical responsibilities of hands-on teaching, including gaining informed consent, recognising when touch is appropriate, adapting to individual client preferences and understanding situations where touch should be avoided.

Through live demonstrations and partner practice, attendees will learn a variety of tactile cueing techniques that can be immediately applied in both mat and equipment-based Pilates settings. The workshop also examines different types of touch, how to use your own body mechanics to cue safely and effectively, and how tactile cueing complements verbal and visual instruction to create a richer learning experience.

Whether you teach rehabilitation, fitness or movement education, this workshop will provide practical strategies to make your cueing more precise, purposeful and impactful.

This course will be presented live online and Face to Face Sunday 1st November 2026, 10am - 5pm.

The cost of this course is $349 Australian dollars and will be increasing to $495 from November 1st.

I will be recording this session and uploading it back into the course content. The online course content currently has a number of shell modules that I will be uploading videos from the Face to Face/Live online session.
